چکیده
New trends and future prospects for small capacity systems of Renewable Energy-driven DESalination (REDES) are reviewed assessed in this paper over a nominal desalination range 3–1000 m3/d. A thorough literature review is reported order to evaluate current research developing activities. Outstanding commercial the near identified two off-grid REDES technologies under development. First, wave energy converters with direct coupling seawater desalination. Second, solar micro gas turbines biofuel backup coupled reverse osmosis (RO) and/or zero liquid discharge water treatment. These systems, as well mature plants (namely PV/RO wind turbines/RO), will benefit from forthcoming advances efficiency RO process itself. The Closed Circuit (CCROTM) concept may be key configuration enhancing RE-driven Additionally, opportunities innovation variable power consumption highlighted. On other hand, our conclusions highlight novel portable based on membrane distillation linear Fresnel concentrator manufactured by SOLATOM. could foster development microbial cells combined PV powered tidal currents.

The origin and continuation of mankind is based on water. Water is one of the most abundant resources on earth, covering three-fourths of the planet’s surface. However, about 97% of the earth’s water is salt water in the oceans, and a tiny 3% is fresh water. This small percentage of the earth’s water—which supplies most of human and animal needs—exists in ground water, lakes and rivers. The onl...
متن کاملSmall Hydro-Power Plants in Kenya: A Review of Status, Challenges and Future Prospects
Small Hydro-power Plants (SHP) are an important source of electricity in many countries. However, little is known about SHP in Kenya. This paper reviews the status, challenges in implementation of SHP and prospects for future development of SHP in Kenya. The paper shows that SHP has not yet fully utilized the available hydro-power potential. The challenges associated with SHP development should...
